 When I joined campus the first question we were all asked by the lecturer before starting any lesson was `` Why do you want to be a lawyer? That's easy I thought, I want to be a lawyer because I have a very strong passion for the law which drives me to want to be part of  advocating for the respect of the rule of law.'' How best other than THROUGH  my career? Well you see, I did make the decision to follow this career path when I was 14 years old in class 8. Being in boarding primary school i used to go home on midterms and closing days. One day during my midterms I went home and my younger brother told me there was bad blood between my parents and one of our neighbors who had bought the land adjacent to ours. I enquired more about the situation and I learned that the guy claimed our land was bigger than it should be and that we had hived some part of it. It is trite that every aspect or docket in life is in some way or another regulated by Law in Kenya. Such a law could be from Statute, Common Law or Customary. In recent times so much has been going on and it is only prudent that each one of us understands our Laws. As the saying goes ignorance is no defense and the only way to steer away from ignorance is to keep ourselves armed with knowledge and the knowhow to use it to protect our rights. This will also help us keep in check: away from trouble associated with law-breaking or finding ourselves on the wrong side of the law. The thing with the law is that it is an evolving subject, laws change now and then, the more reason for us to be vigilant and keep ourselves abreast at all times.
